I’m a big fan of Cline Winery. It was one of the first I became a member of when I moved to California in 2014, and their wines are consistently drinkable, with varying degrees of complexity to satisfy just about any type of wine lover. The grounds at Cline are lovely—the most laid-back, friendly, and welcoming I’ve visited (they even allow dogs and picnics!)—and embody the peace of the South. Their wines are affordable, and their staff is the least pretentious I’ve had the pleasure of tasting with.
One of my current favorite wines is Cline’s 2012 Cool Climate Syrah. This red is bold and bright with a peppery finish, and when I read Avery Flynn’s contemporary romance His Undercover Princess, I couldn’t help thinking of all the parallels between the wine and the characters. Plus, both are easily consumable and a pleasure to “sip”. *wink* His Undercover Princess‘s leads are saucy and determined, neatly complimenting the spice and stature of the Syrah. Author Avery Flynn embodies both halves of her couple with heart and straightforward strength and a healthy dash of plucky personality. That’s exactly how I’d describe Cline’s 2012 Cool Climate Syrah, making these two memorable experiences this month’s Perfect Pairing.
